made by L. Gasser, Vienna, with first version 9 1/2in. barrel, moulded blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight to top of breech, the top also marked with a crown over 'N.I.', the side of throat signed 'L. GASSER PATENT', long plain stepped cylinder with external ratchet locks, open iron frame with exposed safety spring mounted horizontally to the right hand side and hinged loading gate, double action mechanism and walnut bag-shaped grips (traces of chequering), plunge ejector with wing-nut lock mounted to lower right of barrel, cleaned of finish
